The NTX series of intelligent automation controllers are available in pole-top and substation models. All NTX series models can be configured with high–speed isolated RS–232 or RS–485 serial and 10/100 Base T DNP3 over TCP/IP or UDP Ethernet ports, as well as serial ports supporting most popular legacy protocols. The NTX series also incorporates both serial and TCP/IP or UDP Modbus RTU protocol. Both serial and TCP/IP DNP3 and Modbus RTU protocol emulations are configurable as a client, a server, or multiples of both.

NTX-20

The NTX-20 controller is an economical solution for feeder automation where Ethernet and/or serial connectivity is desired. Combining both Ethernet and serial connectivity, master gateway, IED gateway, router, internal GPS precision time reference interface, binary inputs, and power supply functions in a single–package module, the NTX-20 controller interfaces with distribution line switches, capacitor banks, transformers, distributed substation breaker bays, water pumps, valve control devices, etc., to provide low–cost automation with the highest reliability possible. NTX-200

The NTX-200 Substation Controller, smallest of our NTX Series modular substation system designs, incorporates complete substation management functionality. It also adds the ability to interface to a large amount of data from IEDs and to a small to medium amount of locally-wired data acquisition and control devices in the substation. The NTX-200 utilizes a client/server design. Throughout the NTX-200, servers (such as NTX Gateway to IEDs) produce data, and clients (such as the NTX gateway supplying the virtual databases to the master) receive data. It can also transmit many selected subsets of this data to one or more master stations in the master’s native protocol. Local I/O can also be configured in the three motherboard slots available. NTX-220

The NTX-220 Substation Controller, the mid-size version of the ACS NTX series substation systems, provides complete substation management functionality. It also adds the ability to interface to a very large amount of data from integrated IEDs, and to a medium to large amount of data from hardwired local I/O devices in the substation. The NTX-220 is designed with multiple 32-bit CPUs operating within a client/server architecture. NTX-220 clients (such as the NTX gateway to IEDs) provide data that is received and processed at the server level in the NTX master gateway supplying the virtual databases to the master. Multiple user-defined subsets of this data can also be transmitted to one or more master stations in the master’s native protocol. A medium amount of local analog and digital inputs can be configured in the six input module motherboard slots available. With the addition of an external expansion card file, these inputs are expandable to the maximum of 256 inputs per local interface node. Control relay outputs are also expandable to 256 relay outputs per control system node, utilizing externally mounted control relay modules with varying voltage and current contact ratings available. NTX-240

The NTX-240 Substation Controller, another mid-size version of the ACS NTX series substation systems, provides complete substation management functionality. It also adds the ability to interface to a large amount of data from IEDs and to upgrade legacy RTUs interfacing to a medium to large amount of locally-wired I/O devices in the substation. It does not provide any local I/O slots, and is primarily designed to upgrade existing legacy ACS and 2nd source RTUs. Download Brochure

NTX-260

The NTX-260 Substation Controller is the top-of-the-line of our NTX Series substation system designs. It incorporates complete substation management functionality for extra-large data concentration and protocol translation, while supporting a very large amount of local I/O for full integration of old and new substation designs. Legacy RTU Upgrades

The key to the vast savings in time and money lies in our upgrade approach that allows you to leave the local I/O terminations and original field I/O wiring in place. If any of the I/O interfaces are active PCB modules that are unreliable or not adaptable to an NTX series interface, we may be able to replace the original vendor’s I/O terminations with form and fit blank termination boards that have the same terminal block layout. NTX-U20 Controller (GE D20 Upgrade)

The NTX-U20 is a cost-effective and feature-rich upgrade solution for GE D20 I/O peripheral panels. The NTX-U20 mounts directly to the existing WESTERM termination boards, eliminating the need to disturb or replace any of the existing field wiring. Download Brochure

NTX-U57 Controller

The NTX-U57 is a cost effective and feature-rich upgrade solution for L&G/Siemens TG5700 RTU & I/O subsystems. The NTX-U57 replaces the original TG5700 Controller Card piggy-back mounted on the original Termination Card (for each I/O subsystem type other than SBO Control), eliminating the need to disturb or replace any of the existing field wiring. For the utility, this means up to 60% cost savings over a traditional RTU replacement, since the work required to reproduce drawings, re-cable, and do extensive point checkout is vastly reduced. The original TG5700 Station Manager or Supervisor Module host can be replaced with an NTX series Substation Controller, or any substation system that supports DNP/IP. Download Brochure

Software Solutions

NTX Explorer

NTX Explorer and MonitorNTX Explorer is the application provided for configuring the NTX family of controllers. The intuitive interface emulates standard PC Windows Explorer navigation in order to minimize any learning curve. Drag–and–drop techniques are employed for database configuration and mapping. NTX Explorer enables configuration of the unit locally in the field or remotely from the control center, using either the local maintenance port or Ethernet connection. The application supports easy configuration of all capabilities of the controller including communication settings, virtual RTUs, local I/O configurations, security features, etc. Upload of existing NTX configurations from the controller is also supported.Using the integrated Monitor feature, the user can view, in real-time, all the physical database values configured in each controller and diagnose communication or signal issues in the field. Both hardwired and IED data values may also be manually overridden for testing purposes and, with password permissions, control relays may be operated manually.

NTX Explorer runs on PCs using Microsoft® Windows® 7 and Windows 10 operating systems.

NTX Logic

NTX Logic Programming ApplicationNTX Logic is a programming application that runs on the NTX Series substation controllers to provide powerful and sophisticated capability for running local control processes. It combines ladder logic capability with powerful function blocks to give you the simplicity of a PLC with the performance of a high-end process controller.

NTX Explorer
